From an ominous house tour in Purchasing Property (2020) to a nighttime dance in Phone Soaked Swimming Pool (2022), Nevin’s films search for a place that exists between reality and fiction. Armed with a tripod and costumes pulled from his own closet, these homemade films see Nevin starring as all his own characters. While other projects vary in production level, it certainly speaks to one thing: nothing can stand in the way of his desire to tell stories.
It is easy to say that Nevin has a love for curiosity, finding creative outlets in any shape or form possible. In his early teenage years Nevin began taking photos as a visual journal for his observations. As an almost meditative practice, Nevin keeps a handwritten journal for daily reflections on the world. These various outlets ultimately cultivate his love for cinema where there are endless opportunities to collaborate with others and incorporate various arts into one. Nevin points to David Lynch as one his biggest influences for this approach to filmmaking.
Nevin is currently pursuing cinema at Concordia University in Montréal, Québec. If not writing a paper on film history or journaling about his 3AM adventures as a busboy at a private bar, he can probably be found riding his bike—exploring a new area of this strange world that we have all come to live in. Walking away from one of his films, he hopes that maybe you too are inspired to see the world in a new way.
